- Trail Overview: This trail includes 200+ stairs, so prepare for a bit of a climb on the way back up. In winter, watch for icy patches.
- Alternative Route – Gentle Trail: The Gentle Trail offers a short, paved path to an observation deck with views of Blackwater Falls.This route is accessible for wheelchairs, strollers, and little ones.
The boardwalk trail has plenty of places to rest going up or down the stairs. We didn’t find it too difficult.
Elakala Falls Trail

Venturing down to the base of Elakala Falls was a muddy adventure, but the view was worth every step. With recent rain, the trail was slick, adding a bit of challenge, but seeing the falls from below was simply stunning.
Lindy Point Trail
The Lindy Point Trail is a must for panoramic views over Blackwater Canyon.
- Parking: The Lindy Point trailhead has limited parking, so arriving early is a good idea.
- Trail Experience: It’s like walking through a secret lush forest that opens up to breathtaking views at the end. Though short, this trail was a favorite because of the stunning overlook and ‘secret forest”.
Our kids loved the “jungle vibe” of the Lindy Point Trail, and the view at the end was a jaw-dropper, even on a cloudy day.
